The lyrics of this track are paraphrased from advice given to me by my former saxophone teacher and mentor, Paul Carr. It's about as close to a thesis statement for this whole album as I think I can put into words.

On the composition side, this one has got Billy Taylor all over it. I saw "If You Really Are Concerned" performed at the Kennedy Center Honors concert years ago and I've never forgotten it.
